Hi guys,

For tomorrow there will be no meetings tomorrow due to low turn out rate.

Instead, there is a need for ALL to stay back after 1pm for about 2 or 3 hours to work on the Study Model and Slides before going hiome to study for tests. Would probably push to finish with 2 hours if possible so that everyone can rest up.

So the planning is as follow for Monday:

Venue: Seminar Room
Time: After 1pm
Attendance: ALL.

If you cannot make it, you tell me, latest by Sunday night.

In case you still don't know the dressing code for presentation:

Dressing Code: FULL Formal (Ties, Leather Shoes, Etc)
When : 6th of June (Friday)

So you still have about a week to get items needed if you don't have...

For later in the day, there will be 2 groups for WSQ, one in morning and the others in the afternoon.

Please take note that due to submission of items on Monday, there might be a need to do the project over the weekends. Please be mentally prepared for that.

I understand that on Saturday some would have WSQ on Mornings, if so, those on Morning please head back to school to continue doing the project while the others will join in after the afternoon session.

Before getting on to current issues, would like to sidetrack abit. It's being about more than a month since this project started. Throughout this project, it is made possible by most members contributing to it.

Now that the project is coming to an end for the first and second part, how many of us actually really contributes? Im not naming names here, but I'm making you guys think. Not on others, but yourselves. Reflect for yourself, how much have you contribute to the whole project? No matter big or small.

There's a reason why I sent out this sms a while ago in the early evenings. If you feel you are not doing much, you come and tell me, not wait for instructions. I may or may not see it, but team members can see it. Heck even if they didn't see it, you yourself know how much you are contributing to this project.

In this project, I'm aiming to excel in this, which means A and above. Anything below, I will not accept it. And I would also want my team members to have the same marks as me, nothing lower. Just like in LD II.

Im sorry that you might not be compelled to agree with what I hope to achieve in terms of my results, but sorry,you are in my game and you play by the rules. I don't want a case whereby on the actual day one of the members in the group got questioned by the judges on their respective areas and they are dumbfounded on how to answer that.

It's the last leg, give it all you have and you can do whatever you can after that.

Back to topic,

You can see the timer on the left right? We are really running short on time, not to mention it happens to be on our common tests week. You certainly don't want to come back to do the project while leaving your revisions as it is right?

Just a word of thanks for today, I think it has being productive.

Anyway, regarding tomorrow, I understand that not all of us is free till 6pm since a few of us are under PPP from 2 to 6pm. So this would be what the schedule is:

What: Continuation of Study Model, Video, Master Plan and Filing System
Who: All except Elfie, Amalina and Iqbal (In the meantime please get the serviettes from the labs, thank you.)
Note:

Have decided the venue and timing for the meet this coming Monday.

Venue: Mark's House
Time: 9am onwards.
Attendance: Compulsory for everyone, NO EXCUSES.
Initial Meetup Point: Clementi MRT station, around 8.50am to 9.00am

We will meetup at Clementi MRT station before heading off to Mark's house, depending on what you guys want, take bus or taxi.

What we will be doing on Monday:
-Master Plan
-Study Model Making
-Videos (Wen Xiang)
-Reports

Groupings will be as per grouping on Friday.

As for the materials needed on Monday, please bring the following:

-Copic Markers
-Pens/ Pencils/ Sharpeners/ Erasers
-Rulers (Long ones)
-Colour Pencils
-Technical Pens
-Pen knife
-Scissors
-Circle Template
-Compass (Drawing one)
-Scale Ruler
-Serviettes (For model making purposes)
-Plan Drawings of your own area. (If not, do it on Monday morning itself and don't wait for me to ask.)

This applies for all, if you don't have some of the items listed above, just bring whatever you have down. Don't come empty handed.

Hi guys,

Remember that tomorrow is the date line for the sketches. Final Sketches in neat and clean paper.

DO NOT throw away any other papers you have drawn or done on because these are going to be used for filing purposes.

Have made a trip and bought about half of the materials needed. What's left is the base and the materials needed to make the incline of the hill.

The problem is the base.

The cardboard we spotted yesterday is too flimsy to hold on to the whole model sturdy enough... An alternative is to use plywood, but that would add alot of weight and trimming might have alot of problems.

The other alternative is using a much harder foam cardboard, but this one costs $20 plus dollars, but its light weight, and more manageable.

If everyone agrees to using either alternatives, the share costs might raise slightly... Right now its about $6-7 per member, will raise to about $8.

Please think and let me know by tomorrow.

As today per critique by Mr Dhanen, please do make some amendments on your design and submit your final draft to me by Thursday. No delays would be tolerated because it will delay both Master Plan and Study Model Process

I noticed that quite a few people are still confused on what we need to do and have it ready one week before the submission. Just to let you guys know (And possible gauge that we are really running short on time.) on what we have to submit.

For LD III:

Supposed Presentation : 30th May.
Supposed Mock Presentation : 23th May (That is next week.)

Things that need to be submitted before 30th May:
- Full Site Analysis Report
- Filing System (Sketches, Records, Etc)
- Synthesis Diagram (The Concept/ Master Plan) A1 Size.
- Presentation Slides
- Study Model.

In short, what you do in LD II minus the model making for one whole semester is to be done within these 2 weeks.

Jonathan, please remind me to discuss with you the site analysis report tomorrow.

As for LPM, there will be a discussion during tomorrow's practical. We will finalise the activities by tomorrow.

Hi guys,

Today afternoon, after 3pm+, there will be a trip to Sunshine Plaza to print out the Map of Mt Faber for Study Model, will also be sourcing out for materials for use on Study Models.

Currently going is:

Me.

Anyone who wants to join is most welcome to, but most likely it will be a short and fast trip.

Please remind me to discuss about the map size you guys would prefer tomorrow. I still feel it's better to go by the majority.


As to the submission on this coming Thursday, please give me a nice and clean draft. I would say it's a final draft because there should be no more derivations from it for Part 3 and 4 of the Design Process. Give any information on the draft design that you feel that can help the process in making a Study Model. Things like measurement of it, or colors and anything related to the design would certainly help alot.

Have updated the blog layout (Again) so it looks neater and much easier to access. This layout is done after gathering information from comments. Hope you guys can comment on it.

About this blog, it's setup to let the members know of the happenings, because I'm running out of SMSes (I sound like an old man.) to send and the different timetables that some members have. That is why there is a need to check here daily for any updates. Not only that, all future events and any changes in meetings or plans will also be posted here.

As to meetings and timings; it's towards the left side of this blog. These are compulsory meetings, no excuses. They are only the most common slots that most of us can meet up and discuss. You certainly don't want the weekends to burn in Mac and doing up the project right?


Meetings are done because you update yourself with the group progress and you yourself will contribute to the meeting, either by voicing out or doing whatever work you couldn't do over the days. More people, easier to work around for a solution.

'Every little small contributions count towards a project.'

Unless you are sick/FYP/Valid reasons, otherwise don't anyhow excuse yourself for nothing.

In the event you really cannot make it to any of the meetings, it would be best that you inform someone beforehand about it, either through me, or any other members. You are doing it not for me, but for yourself by accounting for your own absence. It's not good, for people to wait for you and expecting you to come but didn't in the end. It's also not fair to those who are waiting for you.

Managing a 10 person team is definitely no small feat. I cannot keep trying to catch up on your attendance in meetings, it would be tiring if I have to do it for each and everyone. That's why please take the initiative to inform me if you cannot make it. I'm not an asshole, I don't get angry just because you are really sick and couldn't even walk around properly. I mean, isn't it a waste of time if you come and you are sick, unhappy and not willing to do any work than staying at home and resting more? I would prefer the later choice. For one, I'm not burdened with abusing you guys and you can rest up more and get yourself in shape more quickly.

I deeply appreciate all those who have attended the meetings till now even with their busy timings and have taken the initiative to inform me that you cannot make it.

I'm a demanding person, no doubt about it, because I felt that there are times to be serious and there are times to be funny. In this project, you are going to do it for yourself, and the team. Not me. I'm just here to guide and make sure everyone have their own contributions to the project. In return, I will contribute as much as possible to the project.

This post might be offending to some, or some might even don't like me or even hate the way I do things. But I don't care what are your feelings toward me,


End of the day, we are in as a group, out as a group.

Just an update:

Have covered about 75-80% of the area, some of the areas required immediate attention. Will be letting you guys know about it tomorrow.

For tomorrow, please bring any sketches you have done or blank paper to start your ideas rolling, For those in the Designers Group, I would like to personally meet you guys to talk about the study model.

As for Topography map, anyone had any idea to print A0 size at a reasonable price? I don't feel like going back to Ultra Ripoff Supplies to print something that they charge their own rate.

This is just an update:

Sorry for the short and sudden announcement, there will be a trip to Mt Faber again tomorrow;

When: May 08th Thursday
Time: 6pm onwards
Transport: Iqbal's Van

Currently there's only 3 going, which is Me, Ming Jie and Iqbal, those who are interested can feel free to join, but take note that it will end around 8pm and the van maximum capacity is about 6 people.

Don't worry about attendance, not compulsory because Im just doing a small survey for the area to confirm some of the entrance's and site problems.

Basically, this meet is to confirm everyone status on the project, updates, or just to continue working on the project during the meets, that's why it's a must everyone should attend this meet for it if you want to be updated on what's happening right now.
